Hyperion Technology Group was founded in 2009 by Chad Williams, Darryl Winstead, David Harris, Geoffrey Carter, and Gerald Godbold. We’ve grown from our beginnings in Tupelo, MS, at the Renasant Center for Ideas’ business incubator, to multiple expansions—including our current 54,000-square-foot facility in Tupelo and a satellite office in Gulfport, MS.
From our inception, Hyperion was designed to serve technological development demands in both government and commercial sectors. Our commitment to innovation and excellence has been recognized through various accolades, including the Mississippi Governor's Award for Innovation.
Our expertise encompasses advanced sensor engineering, signal processing, and the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance threat detection capabilities.
- Founded in November 2009, incorporated in Mississippi by Geoffrey Carter, P.E., Darryl Winstead, Chad Williams, Gerald Godbold, and David Harris.
- Geoff Carter named 1st President and Chief Executive Officer
- Received first purchase order.
- Began operations at the Renasant Center for Ideas business incubator in Tupelo, MS.
- Relocated to a refurbished 12,000 sq. ft. multi-building facility on West Jackson Street, Tupelo, MS.
- Secured lease-to-purchase agreement with the City of Tupelo for a 54,000 sq. ft. facility on Commerce Street near downtown Tupelo.
- Moved into new Tupelo headquarters: 545 Commerce St.
- May: Reached 50-employee milestone
- November: First single contract award of $5,000,000.
- June: First single contract award over $10,000,000.
- January: Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) established.
- Early 2024: Expansion to Charlotte, NC, with a satellite office at UNC Charlotte to collaborate with EPIC on power electronics technologies for the U.S. Army.
- Mid 2024: Expansion to Gulfport, MS, focused on cloud-based software with AI/ML applications for NOAA and DHS.
- November: Chad Williams named 2nd President and Chief Executive Officer
- August: Hyperion Awarded "Tech Manufacturer of the Year" by the Mississippi SBDC Network
